Dallas Summer Musicals—or broadway dallasas it will be known from now on – unveiled its 2022-23 season of Broadway show tours in partnership with Broadway Across America, and there are some really big names on the roster.
“We changed our name from Dallas Summer Musicals to Broadway Dallas to accurately reflect who we are and what we do,” said Ken Novice, President and CEO of Broadway Dallas. “This encompasses not only the magnificent work we put on stage, but also our other exciting events and our community engagement and education programs through which we share ‘the spirit of Broadway’ with so many members of our community. as possible.”
In other words, not just musicals and not just in the summer.
The Germania Insurance Broadway series will launch in September with the Tony Award-winning musical Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of Temptations. The band’s extraordinary journey from the streets of Detroit to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame was written by three-time Obie Award winner Dominique Morisseau, directed by two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff (Jersey Boys), and choreographed by Sergio Trujillo. It’s set to the beat of the band’s favorite hits, including “My Girl”, “Just My Imagination”, “Get Ready”, “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” and many more. It takes place from September 6 to 18, 2022 at the Music Hall in Fair Park.
The series continues with the critically acclaimed Lincoln Center Theater production of Lerner & Loewe my lovely lady. With classic songs such as “I Could Have Danced All Night”, “The Rain in Spain”, “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly” and “On the Street Where You Live”, my lovely lady tells the story of Eliza Doolittle, a young Cockney flower seller, and Henry Higgins, a linguistics professor determined to turn her into his idea of a ‘real lady’ – but who is really being transformed? It takes place from November 1 to 13, 2022 at the Music Hall in Fair Park.
The global phenomenon Six is next, performing at the Winspear Opera House as part of Broadway Dallas’ ongoing collaboration with the AT&T Performing Arts Center. From Tudor queens to pop princesses, Henry VIII’s six wives take to the mic to remix five hundred years of historic heartbreak in an exuberant celebration of 21st century girl power. This new original musical written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss is the worldwide sensation that everyone is losing their minds over. It takes place from December 6 to 25, 2022.
Pretty woman, the musical, based on one of Hollywood’s most beloved romantic stories of all time, is brought to life by a powerful creative team led by two-time Tony Award-winning director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell. It features an original score by Grammy winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance and a book by legendary director Garry Marshall and screenwriter JF Lawton. It runs from January 24 to February 5, 2023 at the Music Hall in Fair Park.
Step into a world of splendor and romance, mind-blowing excess, glitz, grandeur and glory with the first North American tour of Red Mill! Musical comedy. Baz Luhrmann’s groundbreaking film comes to life on stage, remixed in an outlandish new musical mash-up directed by Tony Award winner Alex Timbers. It runs from March 15 to April 2, 2023 at the Music Hall in Fair Park.
Tootsie tells the story of Michael Dorsey, a talented but difficult actor who struggles to find work until a breathtaking act of desperation lands him the role of his life. It takes place from April 18 to 30, 2023 at the Winspear Opera House.
Bartlett Sher is back to direct Aaron Sorkin’s new adaptation of Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book Kill a mockingbird, which will star Emmy-winning actor Richard Thomas as Atticus Finch. It takes place from May 16 to 28, 2023 at the Music Hall in Fair Park.
the Riverdance 25th Anniversary Show is an optional seasonal add-on that is a powerful and moving reimagining of the beloved favorite, celebrated around the world for its Grammy-winning score and the heart-pounding energy and passion of its Irish and international dancing. It takes place June 6-8, 2023 at the Music Hall in Fair Park.
